Dr. Cory Heaton
I’m Dr. Cory Heaton, founder of Spartina Ecological Services, where I specialize in helping landowners manage ponds and the habitats around them to create healthier, more sustainable ecosystems. With nearly two decades of experience in wildlife and fisheries biology, I bring a science-based approach to practical land and water management.
I hold a Ph.D. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology, an M.S. in Forestry and Natural Resources, and a B.S. in Aquaculture, Fisheries and Wildlife Biology, all from Clemson University. Over my career, I’ve worked extensively on projects balancing wildlife conservation with productive land use—researching biological control methods for aquatic weeds, improving pond health, and developing wildlife-friendly management practices for agricultural operations.
Through Spartina Ecological Services, my mission is to help landowners enjoy and utilize their properties while improving water quality, controlling invasive species, and enhancing habitat for fish and wildlife. By combining hands-on experience with cutting-edge research, I deliver practical, effective solutions tailored to each site.
Whether you’re looking to restore a pond, improve fisheries, or create a thriving habitat around your water resources, Spartina Ecological Services provides the expertise and dedication needed to make it happen.
